1. Why, without parabens?
If the products are gels even without parabens, precautions apply for pregnant and breastfeeding women. These people should not use gel on the upper body (stomach/breast area) during pregnancy. Otherwise, the products of Barbadensis Miller are considered harmless.
All the companies presented here have decided against parabens and are instead concerned about improving the quality of their products. It is a reaction to customer demand due to the bad reputation parabens have had in recent years.
Parabens have recently been reformulated, all cosmetic products increased their content of aloe vera and as a replacement for natural preservatives they used parabens.
Parabens, are broad-spectrum preservatives and are responsible for the destruction of the numerous germs (bacteria, fungi ...) that can develop all formulas of cosmetics. They can also be found in the pharmaceutical, food, beverage and yoghurt sectors.
Parabens are esters of 4-hydroxybenzoic acid, also known as p-hydroxybenzoic acid or p-hydroxybenzoic acid. The most common parabens are methyl paraben (methyl paraben, E number E218), ethyl paraben (ethyl paraben, E214), propyl paraben (propyl paraben, E216) and butyl paraben (butyl paraben). Other, less common: isobutilparabeno (isobutyl paraben) isopropilparabeno (isopropyl paraben) bencilparabeno (benzyl paraben).
Some studies have been published and have led to scientific debate, controversy has been spread by e-mail and discussions have been held. This controversy has raised concerns about the possible carcinogenic effects of parabens and estrogenic effects in long-term use as preservatives. Most of the cosmetic industries maintain the safe use of parabens based on the safety standards for long-term use and recent scientific studies. However, there are also organizations that are conducting further studies necessary to demonstrate the safety of parabens based on the precautionary principle. We therefore continue to work without parabens!
